As recognised by the DTLR Accessible Threshold Supporting Document, even insignificant changes in level with small steps, thresholds, water-bars or kerbs can be exceedingly difficult for wheelchair users and disabled persons. The document defines the need for traditional ramps between one level and another.
Suitable for wherever thresholds may hinder wheelchair users or other forms of wheeled traffic, the Intastop range of Aluminium and Rubber ramps satisfy virtually all access requirements over low-rise obstructions typically up to 65mm in height as standard items in new or existing buildings.
For small obstructions the one-piece Shallow Ramp 3A is the ideal solution, although custom ramps can be fabricated in Aluminium to suit virtually any access requirements.
Where the rise height is unknown or variable and minimum ramp projection is critical, the Intastop Vari Ramp variable pitch system provides the answer, using a ‘ball and socket’ principle that allows the angled ramp plate to pivot within the top step plate socket to satisfy rise heights from 15mm to 65mm.
For bespoke systems (manufactured to suit particular location design requirements) the system components can be finished with a skid resistant surface.
Rubber Ramps are ideal for solving small and difficult floor level changes and are easily and quickly installed. Made from 100% recycled rubber tyres. |
